Yoga for over 50s Health
Yoga for over 50s | Women’s Health
Well, many years ago, I used to be a fitness junkie! I worked and trained in a gym environment seven days a week. Now I’m in my 50’s, a lot has changed and this doesn’t work for my body and mind – Why?
As you may be aware, the body changes as we get older, not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally. I have learned that we really need to explore what is best for an over 50s body and mind to live life to the fullest.
We all want to slow down aging and feel more alive - right?
Some of us may feel our joints are more sensitive and we don’t feel like jumping around. Lifting heavy weights can put more strain on our joints and back when not done correctly! Or maybe you feel a little more body-conscious around the younger people in a fitness center and do not feel comfortable or confident? Some people once over 50, are not enjoying exercise any more or finding it hard to get results.
If you have never tried yoga for whatever reason, then try to open your mind now and give it a go. Yoga for Women over 50’s health has huge benefits. There is a yoga style for everyone and you can do it at home at your own pace. Even if you have tried somewhere and this didn’t work out, then try another class, until you find the right yoga class for over 50s.
Practicing healthy yoga for over 50’s has helped me get through all the challenges of the big ‘M’ - Menopause. It has got me through relationship struggles and bringing up two teenage boys! My favorite saying was “Thank God for Yoga”…
I am so thankful I practice yoga in my 50s as it teaches me to learn and grow as I gracefully age in every area of my life. It’s helped my joints to stay healthy, strengthened my body, given me more confidence, and most of all been more self-accepting. I do not think you will learn all that in a fitness center doing weights only, walking only, or aerobic classes! Balancing your exercise routines is important as you get older. Continue to walk, do some Pilates, and try yoga in your 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Yoga at any age will help you learn more about mindfulness and how this can help you through some big changes in life. Remember we all go through challenges and especially now with covid pandemic!
Yoga and meditation together are so powerful for our minds. Learning to be more mindful of our thoughts and actions goes a long way in life especially when we get older. Learning about what really matters and what nourishes you or what drains you. Yoga for over 50s will allow your mind to be more flexible.
Now I’m moving forwards in life in a positive way, embracing the body changes more, enjoying the journey of going natural with my hair, and loving the silver highlights!
I learn more from yoga in my 50s than anything I have tried. My yoga is a completely healthy workout for my body and mind, from inside to outside. Don’t forget it is still very important to eat healthily and make enough time for self-care.
