Autumn Yoga and Self-care Tips

Who loves the Autumn season in Australia?

Beautiful earthy tones of oranges to reds in the trees and cooler temperatures in the Australian Autumn. Do you ever get the urge to simply lie down under these trees or on top of these leaves and close your eyes and just be still?

Well, It’s time to realign our body and mind more with nature. Like trees drop their old leaves in Autumn, we too, can let go of our old layers. The temperature brings more coolness and dryness, so we need to prepare ourselves like trees, for this transition.

Nature is reminding us when there’s a shift in season, we too, need to pay more attention and adjust our living. When we align ourselves with nature, we will have less resistance in all areas of our life and feel more harmony and happiness.

In March, Kevala Health’s online yoga classes are focusing on Autumn sequences with a mix of yang and yin yoga poses, to help us slow down, feel more grounded and repair our minds and bodies. Yin yoga poses are all on the floor, gentle and you hold longer, using blankets and cushions for extra support. When we support ourselves more in our yoga practice we can let go of our old layers of resistance. This also helps you learn how to let go of fears, and resentments and reduce anxiety, which only holds us back from growing.

In the Kevala Health’s Yoga Autumn theme, you will open the lungs and large intestine meridians, to help regulate energy and improve the elimination of toxins. You will learn which yoga poses work best for Autumn, like the tree poses, dragonfly, wide knee child, and butterfly. You will learn a little more about the best Chakra yoga poses for Autumn time.

Autumn is an ideal season for more self-care. As I have become older and experiencing menopause, I pay even more attention to my body and the changes, to help me find balance and harmony.
