Detox Naturally for Long-term Results

Did you know our body is very smart and efficient when it comes to removing toxins? We just need to be more aware of what is toxic and reduce these toxins to help the body naturally detoxify, so it’s more efficient, and we can improve our health.

We all may have different reasons for a body detox from weight loss, to alcohol and drug addiction, fatigue, and other health issues. The main toxins that are harmful to the body are; chemicals in our cleaning, foods and beauty products, alcohol, drugs (prescribed and non-prescribed), processed foods, and pollutants. More information on addiction recovery is here.

What are the signs when the body needs a detox? You may be feeling tired all the time, have digestive issues, poor skin, foggy brain, or allergies. Some people may gain weight and feel big shifts in their moods. Or maybe you have an addiction issue and it’s necessary to detox the body. Read more on addiction steps here.

Don’t forget to look at your mental health and reduce your stress and practice positive thinking to help with the body detox process. Stress causes health issues and toxins in the body’s organs, therefore making it hard for the body to eliminate toxins.

Our main organs that help the body detox are the Liver, Kidneys, lungs, and skin. In Kevala Health's live Yoga classes you will learn more about these organs and how you can enhance your body detox. Check out our online yoga class timetable.

7 Natural Ways to Body Detox

  1. Healthy eating: Reducing sugars, salts, and processed foods is a great start. You can begin with small changes and even write down what you eat every day to learn. Consuming less junk food will help the body detox process and give you long-term results. Increase your green veggie intake, consume Turmeric daily, and eat lots of berries. I aim to have fresh veggie juice a day, especially green and purple/red veggies. More healthy eating tips.

  2. Increase Water: Drink more water, as the body is made up of 70-80% water, this is very important to help the process for longer-lasting results. Plus keeping your body hydrated will help with your energy levels. If you get bored with the taste of water, try my favorite water detox drink, adding sliced lime and cucumber pieces to the water. It’s so refreshing and helps improve the digestion system. Aim to drink 2 - 3 liters a day, depending on your activity level.

  3. Move more: Exercise is the perfect way to detox the body, by moving more and improving your circulation and natural body detox process. It’s recommended to do a minimum of 30 minutes a day either a brisk walk, bike ride, swim, or other activities that get your heart rate up a little.

  4. Yoga and Meditation: Yoga and Meditation teach us to be more mindful, which helps us to make healthier choices when it comes to our bodies and minds. Yoga helps us to improve sleep and manage stress. When the body is stressed it struggles with the natural detox process, it holds onto our fat stores and makes us tired. In Kevala live stream Yoga classes you will learn postures to help promote internal body healing and chakra cleansing to aid in body detoxification. You can manage your anxiety and depression more with meditation techniques and yoga postures.

  5. Quality Sleep: To help support the natural body detox ways, it’s important to get good quality sleep, as this is when the body does the main repair work. Poor sleep is linked to issues like stress, anxiety, and other health issues. Aim to get at least six to nine hours of sleep a night. Avoid computers and phones at least an hour before bedtime.

  6. Reduce Alcohol: Reducing alcohol and other drugs (prescribed and non-prescribed), is a vital step to improving the body's detox. Excessive drinking and drugging severely damage the liver. For some people, it’s best to remove alcohol completely from their diet, as it greatly changes their moods and health. If you are addicted to alcohol or any drugs, it’s important to seek professional help with the detox process safely. You can read more in our blog about yoga for sobriety.

  7. Use Natural Products: Using natural cleaning and body care products as much as possible will help you not only feel better but be healthier on the inside. Have you tried natural essential oils as a perfume? More information on Australian natural perfume blends is here.

Start the body detox slowly, by making small longer-lasting changes, drinking lots of water, keeping your mind busy in a healthy way, and trying some daily yoga and meditation. Keeping a journal can help you too.
